Brand Story: How a Little Animal Comes to Life
愛媛県在住の夏木（かき）です。
今日は、一つの動物あみぐるみが完成するまでの工程と、制作で大切にしていることをご紹介します。
一つの動物あみぐるみが完成するまでに、約4時間の制作時間をかけています。
I’m Kaki , an amigurumi artist based in Ehime, Japan.
Today, I’d like to share the process of creating one of my animal amigurumi and the values that guide my work.
Each animal amigurumi takes approximately four hours to complete, with every step carefully done by hand.
たくさんの小さなパーツを一つひとつ丁寧に編み、編み終えた後は鼻の刺繍を施します。 そして、頭や体のパーツをつなぎ合わせ、表情や全体のバランスを確認しながら仕上げていきます。
目の位置や顔の表情、耳や手足の角度を少しずつ調整することで、次第にその子だけの個性が生まれていきます。
Each tiny part is carefully crocheted by hand. Once all the pieces are finished, I embroider the nose before assembling the head, body, and other parts. Throughout the process, I carefully check the expression and overall balance.
By making small adjustments to the position of the eyes, the facial expression, and the angle of the ears and limbs, each little animal gradually develops its own unique personality.
あみぐるみは、ただ形を編むだけでは完成しません。
糸の質感、色の組み合わせ、色を置く位置。 パーツの大きさ、顔のバランス、小物の配置。
一つひとつの小さな選択が重なり合うことで、その子だけが持つ表情や雰囲気が生まれます。
同じ動物を作っても、少しの違いで印象は変わります。 かわいらしさや優しい表情、その子らしさを大切にしながら、全体のまとまりを見て仕上げています。
手編みの作品は、短時間でたくさん作ることはできません。 だからこそ、一つひとつの出会いを大切に、時間をかけて小さな動物たちを生み出しています。
糸から生まれる小さな存在が、手に取った方の日常にそっと寄り添えるように。 心を込めて、ではなく、細部までこだわりながら丁寧に制作しています。
An amigurumi is more than simply crocheting a shape.
The texture of the yarn, the combination of colors, where each color is placed, the size of every part, the balance of the face, and the placement of each small accessory—all of these thoughtful choices come together to create a unique expression and personality.
Even when I make the same animal, subtle differences can completely change its character. I carefully refine every detail, always keeping cuteness, a gentle expression, and a harmonious overall balance in mind.
Handcrafted amigurumi cannot be made quickly or in large quantities. That is why I take my time with every piece, cherishing each creation and every opportunity for it to find a new home.
My hope is that these little animals, born from simple strands of yarn, will quietly bring warmth and joy to everyday life.
Rather than simply making them "with love," I focus on every tiny detail, creating each piece with care and precision.
